Danakil Depression Tour

ITINERARY

Day 1: Addis Ababa arrival, transfer to hotel O/N Hotel

Day 2: Fly to Mekele and be meeting with the land cruiser and drive to hammed Ella via berhallie. Picnic Lunch at berhalle, on this morning we shall drive to Ahmedela along unmarked sandy tracks, passing Afar Settlements along the way. Ahmedela is the base for exploring the salt mines and seeing the salt workers and Camel caravans.

Day 3:.After an early breakfast we shall drive to the salty Lake Asale and observe salt Workers cutting, shaping and loading the salt onto the endless camel caravans. We shall then proceed 24 km to Dallol and enjoy the spectacular view of the small hills and colorful hot springs. These hot springs are composed of different minerals along with sulfurs and potash to create spectacular colors. Dallol depression Area, O/N camping meal by cook

Day 4: Leave hammed Ella to Dodomme village, late in the afternoon drive further To the bottom of the mountain for and starts to climb the mountain 3-4 hrs walk see around volcano areas for Night picture site selection. You will enjoy the night with the serious eruption of volcano .lunch by cook at Dodome lunch box for dinner O/N on open air sleeping bag in small Tukul type eco house meal by cook

Day 5: Early in the morning be back to the car have breakfast and picnic lunch on the way and drive back to Hammed ella and dinner by cook O/n camping

Day 6: after breakfast in the morning, we watch the sometimes thousands of camels leaving for the salt cutting area. By the time we leave in the late morning, the first camels are being loaded and the cycle is repeated. We continue our drive to “Mekelle” along unmarked sandy tracks then pm city tour in “Mekelle” We shall have a city tour of Mekele which is a home of two rewarding museum called Yohanness IV and the Martyrs’ Memorial monument and the open air market market .O/N hotel

Day 7: mid day fly back to Addis for lunch and lunch at Lucy restaurant the city tour to THE TRINITY CATHEDRAL CHURCH, TO MOUNT ENTOTO FOR THE PANAROMIC VIEW OF ADDIS, TO THE GRAND MAREKT OF MERKATO AND IF TIME ALLOWS ONE OF THE OLD CHURCH ST.GEORGE and dinner traditional fare well party with traditional dance …evening departure …end of serviceO/N Hotel
